Delivery zones, explained

Five ways to say where you deliver — radius, PIN codes, districts, states, or all of India.

A zone is where you deliver. There are five ways to describe one, and they suit different shops.

The five

A radius from your base — "within 15km". Best for your own delivery, because it matches what you would actually agree to do.

PIN codes — an explicit list. Precise, and the right tool when the boundary is not a circle.

Districts — a step up from PIN codes without listing fifty of them.

States — broad, for courier coverage.

All of India — everywhere a courier will go.

How to combine them

Most shops end up with two or three: a tight radius for own-delivery, and all-India for courier. A third for "nearby districts" if you drive further for larger orders.

Each zone carries its own methods and its own prices, which is the point — delivering five kilometres yourself and couriering to Assam should not cost the same.

The mistake to avoid

A zone that promises more than you will actually do. A 50km radius you set optimistically becomes a Sunday you spend driving, or a cancellation.

Set what you will do on a bad week, not a good one.

Questions people ask

Can zones overlap?

Keep them distinct. Overlaps make it unclear which price applies.

What about PIN codes couriers do not reach?

They will tell you at booking. Worth testing a few remote ones before promising all-India.

Can a buyer outside my zones still buy?

Only if the listing offers something they can use — pickup, or their own courier.

How do I test a zone?

Check a real PIN code against it before a show rather than after.

Next: charging for delivery.
