Delivery on Metzee is decided per item, by the seller, and shown to you before you bid. Nothing about it appears for the first time at checkout.
Why per item
Because a seller's stock is not uniform. The same shop might post a scarf, deliver a cake locally, and require you to collect a framed piece of glass. A single delivery setting applied to all three would be wrong about two of them.
So each listing carries one of these:
- Ships across India — courier wherever they deliver
- Local only — their own delivery, in their own area
- Pickup only — you collect
- Local or pickup — either
- Their own combination of areas and methods
The four ways it actually travels
Their own delivery, which for a local seller is often the same afternoon. A courier. Pickup, from a point they have set. Or you arrange it — your own driver, which is what people do for furniture and anything that should not be posted.
What it costs
The seller sets the rule: free, a flat rate, by weight, by order value, or free above a threshold. Whatever it works out to is shown before you commit.
Later wins in the same show ship together. By default there is no extra delivery charge for them; a seller can set one per later win, or turn combining off, and it is shown before you bid. It applies to delivery and courier, not to collection. What you pay when you win.
Why a light thing can cost a lot to post
Couriers charge on chargeable weight — the greater of actual weight and the volume the box occupies. A large light box is priced as though it were heavy, because it takes the space of something heavy.
Some things cannot be posted at all
Tall ceramics, framed glass, anything perishable, anything a courier refuses. Those are listed as collect-only, and you agree to collect before you bid. What that commits you to.
Questions people ask
Do I pay delivery on each item I win?
Usually not. Later wins in a show ship with the first and the default is no extra charge, though a seller can set one. The listing tells you before you bid.
Why is delivery expensive on a small item?
Volumetric weight, or a remote PIN code, or both.
Can I choose the courier?
Generally no. You can ask the seller.
Can I collect instead of paying for delivery?
Only where the seller offers it, and that is shown on the listing.
How long will it take?
The estimate comes from the seller and the method. Distance, festival weeks and remote PIN codes are what move it.
Can Metzee ship outside India?
Not at present. Sellers deliver within India, and a buyer abroad would need to arrange their own forwarding with the seller’s agreement.
What if the courier loses it?
The money has not reached the seller. Raise it and it is dealt with.
