What the lineup tells you
The items the seller has queued, in order. Enough to answer the only question that matters while you are deciding whether to stay: is the thing I want still coming?
What it does not tell you
Timing. There is no estimate of when an item will come up, because it depends entirely on how long the bidding runs. An item four places away could be four minutes or twenty.
Everything. A seller can add items mid-show, so the queue you see is not necessarily the whole evening. Nothing queued — add items from below is what the seller sees when they have not loaded any yet — so a thin-looking lineup sometimes just means they are queueing as they go.
Prices. Start prices show as each item opens.
Just ask
The most reliable way to find out whether something specific is coming is to ask in the chat. "Any kanjivarams tonight?" gets answered, usually immediately, because the seller would rather you stayed than left.
This is also how you find out an item is not coming, which saves you an hour.
What a good seller does without being asked
Says what is coming. "Three more sarees, then the jewellery" keeps a room in place better than anything else, and sellers who do it have fuller rooms at the end.
If a seller never says, asking is reasonable.
If the thing you want is at the end
Two options, and the second is better:
- Stay. You will see everything, which is how you find things you were not looking for.
- Set a maximum bid when it opens and stop watching. Metzee bids for you up to your number, never past it. You are not trading attention for the item. What a maximum bid is
If the show ends before it
It happens — a seller runs out of time or energy. The item was not sold, nothing is lost, and it almost always appears in the next show. The show ended before the item I wanted
For a scheduled show
Before it starts, the show's own page carries what it is about and its category. Some sellers announce the lineup in advance, which is worth looking for if you are deciding whether to set a reminder. How to find a show worth watching
