Freshness is the price here, far more than brand or size.
What moves the number
Sealed or opened, and if opened, when and how much is left.
The date — expiry or best-before, and how far away it is.
Shade and size, which are what buyers search for.
Packaging — carton present, because the codes and dates live on it.
Whether the batch code can be read.
Why two of the same differ
One listing shows the seal, the batch code and the dates. The other shows the front of the box. In a category targeted this hard by counterfeiters, buyers pay for evidence. Describing beauty products.
How to find out rather than guess
Compare completed sales in the same state with similar dates. A sealed in-date product and the same product three weeks from expiry are different items.
Short-dated stock sells well at short-dated prices, and badly when the date is a surprise.
What is worth less than hoped
Opened products with no stated open date, anything decanted or repackaged, and anything whose batch code has rubbed off.
One thing that is not a price factor
What the product is said to do for a person. That is a claim nobody can support, and it crosses into the licence question. Prohibited items.
Questions people ask
Can I sell used makeup?
Say it is used, when it was opened and how much is left. Some buyers only want sealed.
Does a dented carton matter?
Only if it is undeclared. The carton carries the codes and dates, so show it rather than cropping it out.
Are bundles worth more?
Yes, when grouped by type or routine and every date is stated.
