Rarely, and the grounds are narrow by design. A marketplace where sellers could remove reviews they disliked would have ratings worth nothing.
How it is raised
A seller can report a review: Report this review, with What’s wrong with this review? (required) and Anything that helps us check (optional).
That sends it to be looked at. It does not take it down, and reporting is not a lever.
What is actually grounds
The same things that would get any message removed:
- Abuse, threats or hateful content.
- Personal information — a phone number, an address, payment details. The guidance in the system says it directly: never share phone numbers or payment details.
- Something that is not about the purchase — spam, an advert, a review of a different seller.
- A review from somebody who did not buy. Ratings attach to delivered orders, so this is largely prevented rather than policed.
What is not grounds
"It is unfair." A buyer's honest disappointment is a review, even if the seller disagrees with it.
"It is about the courier, not me." Annoying and legitimate. The buyer's experience of the purchase included the delivery.
"They are wrong about the item." If the seller has evidence, the reply is where it goes — publicly, under the review, where every future buyer reads it.
"It will hurt my rating." That is what a rating is.
What a seller should do instead
Reply. Replies are public on your store page. and that is the real remedy.
The seller's own screen says Reply to every 1–3★ review and Reply — resolve this publicly, with the advice A calm, helpful reply shows future buyers you care. That is not softening — it is the thing that works. A measured reply under a harsh review persuades the next reader; an angry one confirms the review.
And the better move than either: fix it before it becomes a review. A seller who offers a partial refund the same day usually gets a different rating. A buyer is asking for a refund
From the buyer's side
If you want to change a review because the seller put things right, say so — amending or adding to it is fairer than leaving a resolved complaint standing. A review that says "initially a problem, sorted out quickly" is useful information in its own right.
And if a seller pressures you to remove one, that is worth reporting rather than complying with. Reviews being buyable or removable on request is precisely what makes ratings elsewhere useless. How to report a seller or listing
What Metzee will not do
Remove a review because the seller asked. The narrow grounds above are the whole list, and "I do not like it" is not among them.
