Yes. A review is attached to an order, and the seller knows which order it came from — so they know who wrote it.
There is no anonymous review on Metzee, and that is deliberate rather than an oversight.
Why it works this way
A review is about a transaction that happened. The whole value of it to the next buyer is that the person writing it actually bought the thing. Anonymity would break the link that makes it worth reading.
The seller has to be able to answer. A store can respond, and a response is only possible if they can look up what happened. "They say it arrived late — it did, the courier held it eleven days, here is the tracking" is useful to everybody, and impossible against an anonymous complaint.
Anonymous reviews are how competitors attack small stores. Tying each one to a real order is most of what keeps that out.
What that means for you
Write what you would say to their face. Which is a good test anyway.
Be factual rather than cutting. A specific account of what went wrong is more damaging to a bad store — and more useful to the next buyer — than an insult, which mostly reads as temper.
Do not put personal details in it. Yours or theirs. That is one of the things that gets a review removed. My review has not appeared
If you are worried about a reaction
A seller cannot retaliate through the system. They cannot review you back, cannot stop you buying elsewhere, and cannot change your rating.
They can block you from their store, which is their right and is the end of it.
Harassment is reportable, and is treated seriously. If a review produces abusive messages, that is a safety report, not a review problem. How to raise an issue
Can they get it removed?
They can report it. A report does not remove it — Metzee decides, and a low rating describing a real experience stays. Can a review be removed?
For sellers reading this
Knowing who wrote it is for answering, not for arguing. A calm factual response to a bad review persuades far more buyers than the review discourages — and a defensive one confirms it.
More: can I leave a review, can a review be removed, how moderation works.
