My review has not appeared

Four reasons, in order of likelihood. Only one of them is moderation.

Work through these in order — the first is far commoner than the last.

1. The order is not finished

A review belongs to a completed order. If yours is still on its way, or sitting with a return or dispute open on it, the review is waiting rather than missing.

Finish the order and it goes through. What each order status means

2. It is there and you are looking in the wrong place

A review sits on the store, not on the item you bought. If you went back to the listing expecting to see it, that is why.

3. It was reported, and is being looked at

A seller can report a review. While that is open you see Reported — Metzee is reviewing it, and it ends in one of four states:

  • Report reviewed — the review stays
  • Comment removed by Metzee — the written part goes, the rating stays
  • Review removed by Metzee

A report does not hide your review by default and most are dismissed. How moderation works

4. It was removed

Then you get a Review removed notification. You are told; it does not vanish silently.

What gets a review removed

Not a low rating. A one-star review that describes a real experience stays, and that is the point of having reviews at all.

What goes is the other stuff: personal details, abuse, something about a different order, or a review that is not about the transaction.

If you think a removal was wrong

Reply on it rather than writing a second review. Writing it again is the one move that reads as evasion, and a second review of the same order is not how to escalate. Can I appeal a decision?

What makes a review that stands and is useful

Specific. "The glaze has a bubble on the rim that was not in the photographs" is worth ten "bad seller"s — to the next buyer and to you if it is ever disputed.

About the transaction. Item as described, packing, speed, how they answered.

Written after you have actually used it, where that applies.

Fair about what is not the seller's fault. Courier damage is worth recording, and worth saying who handled it well.

A note on timing

Reviews are most useful soon after the order, while you remember the detail. They are also most likely to be fair then — a month later you remember the annoyance and not the chronology.

More: can I leave a review, can a review be removed, can the seller see who left a review.
