The four things that help

2. Close other tabs and apps, which compete for memory and generate heat.
3. Lower the video quality if the player offers it. The auction is unaffected by picture quality.

What does not need a new phone
Bidding, buying, paying, tracking, returns — all ordinary pages, and they work on almost anything with a current browser.
Selling, mostly. Listings and orders are pages.
What might
Broadcasting. Going live asks more of a device than watching does, and an old phone that watches happily may struggle to send. Test it in a rehearsal rather than in front of a room. Going live from a phone
Storage

Text size
The app follows your phone's text size rather than fixing its own, so if things are hard to read, that setting works. The text is too small
If it is genuinely unusable
Report it with the phone, the browser and what you were doing. A device that cannot run the site is worth knowing about, and "old phone, does not work" cannot be acted on while a specific report can. Reporting something broken
