The app can send 161 kinds of notification, and 109 of them cannot be turned off. That sounds heavy-handed until you see which ones: they are the money and the deadlines.
How the switches actually work
You do not switch notifications off one at a time. The notifications are gathered into 11 groups, and you turn a group down. Inside a group, the ordinary ones go quiet and the urgent ones keep coming — anything about a payment, a deadline, a payout, a dispute or your account stays on whatever you set.
That is the whole design, and it is the honest version of a notification setting: the app will not let you mute the message that costs you money.
The groups, if you are buying
Bids & wins — outbid, ending soon, you won, payment deadline, a win cancelled, and what happened to a pre-bid. Saved items — something you saved opening, ending, hitting a price you asked to watch for, or matching a saved search. Orders & delivery — paid, being packed, shipped, tracking added, delivered, ready to collect, refunds, returns and disputes. Live shows & stores you follow — a store going live, a show moved or called off, a new listing, a story, a giveaway. Suggested for you — promoted shows and items from stores you do not follow, at most two a day. Messages — replies from stores and from support, offers made and answered, and pokes. Social — a new follower, somebody joining from your invite, a reply to your review.
The groups, if you are selling
Sales — a new order, a sale cancelled, an offer on your item, a return, a dispute, a tip, a buyer's question, and a win that went unpaid. Your store — approval, your tier, strikes, documents, listings taken down or restored, payouts, promotions, your team, and the weekly summary.
And one for everybody
Account & safety — your account's standing, your team invitations, Metzee Credits earned, returned or expiring, and news from Metzee.
Where the record lives
Every one of these is a row in your inbox, and the inbox is the record. A notification is not a thing that flashes past and is gone — it is there to be read later, which is the reason the deadline ones are written the way they are.
Questions people ask
Why can I not turn off the payment reminders?
Because missing one costs you the item and a strike. Turning down Bids & wins quiets the outbid messages and leaves those.
I would rather have fewer. What should I turn down first?
Suggested for you, then Social. Neither carries anything you have to act on.
Does turning a group down lose the messages?
No. They still arrive in the inbox; they just stop interrupting.
