The room is public and the rules are the ordinary ones. The short version: say what you would say out loud in a shop.
Not allowed anywhere on Metzee
Harassment and abuse. Of the seller, of other buyers, of anyone.
Hate. No version of this is tolerated.
Other people's personal details. Somebody's number, address or workplace, posted in a room. This is one of the serious ones.
Words on the platform-wide blocked list. A message containing one is refused outright, and you are told why rather than left wondering.
Not allowed because of what it does to the auction
Moving a sale off Metzee. Offering to pay the seller directly, or a seller suggesting it. It removes every protection for both sides and is against the rules. Is Metzee safe to buy from?
Pushing a price on someone else's behalf. The seller cannot bid on their own items — the app refuses it — and arranging for somebody else to do it is the same offence with extra steps. This is one that gets accounts suspended. How do I know a show is not staged?
Advertising your own store in somebody else's room.
The host's own list
A store can mute particular words in its own show — its choice, its room. Those are not Metzee-wide bans; they are a host deciding what they do not want in their chat.
So a word blocked in one show may be fine in another. Why was my chat message hidden?
What is allowed and sometimes assumed not to be
Saying an item is overpriced. Bluntly, even. It is an auction; opinions on value are the point.
Not bidding, and saying so.
Asking an awkward question about condition. Always allowed and always worth asking. A seller who objects has told you something. Five questions worth asking before you bid
Disagreeing with the host. Civilly.
What happens if you break them
A message refused, for a blocked or muted word — nothing else follows.
Muted by Metzee for a period, if it is conduct rather than a word. You can still watch, bid and buy; you cannot chat until it lifts.
Blocked by the store, which is their right in their own room.
Account action, for the serious ones.
If somebody else is breaking them
Report it rather than replying. Arguing in the room gives them the audience they wanted. Dealing with rude comments
