Coins are the only small category on this site where weight is a real factor, and the only one where a parcel can be both tiny and worth a great deal.
The four options
Courier, tracked and signed for — the default. Your own delivery locally, which some dealers prefer for larger lots. Pickup, which suits bulk lots and higher-value single pieces. Buyer arranges, occasionally.
What decides it
Weight for lots, value for singles. A bag of coins is heavier than it looks and a weight-based rate will cover you; a single scarce coin is a light parcel where the only question is security.
Never write what is inside on the outside. Use a service that covers the value and keep the proof. Packing coins.
Combining wins
Coins combine well up to a point, and that point is weight. Several wins in one show ship together by default with whatever you set for each later win — but check the combined weight before you promise a figure, because an underquoted parcel comes off your own balance.
When collection is the honest answer
For bulk lots, often — a heavy box of mixed coins costs real money to send and the price may not carry it. Offer pickup, say so in the listing, and set the collect-by window you can live with. If it is not collected the store keeps a share: 7% by default, 20% at most. How pickup works.
Questions people ask
Should notes ship differently from coins?
Same service, different packing — flat and rigid rather than padded. Packing coins and notes.
Is a weight rule better than a flat one?
For this category, almost always.
Can a buyer pay cash on collection?
Not for an auction win. Cash on delivery is a Buy Now option a store switches on.
