Some items cannot be posted, and some you would rather collect. Here is the sequence.
The order of events
- You agree to collect before you bid — not at checkout. The terms are on the listing.
- You win and pay as normal.
- The seller marks it ready for collection, and you get the full address.
- You have 72 hours by default from that moment.
What the seller sets
Where. A shop, a studio, sometimes a neutral point.
How long. 72 hours unless they have changed it — six hours at the least, two weeks at the most. Fresh flowers and a stoneware plate are not the same promise.
What happens if you never come. Covered here.
When you get there
Bring something that shows you are the buyer. Check the item before you leave — you are standing in front of the person who sold it, which is the one moment a question is easiest to answer.
If you are going somewhere you have not been, go in daylight and tell somebody where you are going.
Questions people ask
Can somebody else collect for me?
Usually, if you arrange it with the seller first.
What if it is not ready when I arrive?
Talk to the seller. The collect-by clock starts when they mark it ready, not when you won.
Can I pay when I collect?
No. Payment happens when you win.
What if it is not as described when I see it?
Raise it like any other order — the money has not reached the seller. How.
