Common mistakes selling beauty products

Decanting into another container, and writing what a product does to a person.

This category is targeted hard by counterfeiters, which means buyers look for evidence — and most mistakes here destroy the evidence.

Decanting or repackaging

A product that is not in its own container has lost its batch code, its dates and any way for a buyer to check it. Never do it.

Throwing away the carton

The codes and the dates live on it. It is part of what the buyer is buying.

Not showing the seal and the batch code

Two close-ups. In a category this targeted, showing is what sells.

Claiming a product treats or cures something

Nobody can support it, and it moves the product into a category needing a licence the seller must hold. Prohibited items.

Not saying when something was opened

"Used" is not enough. Say when, and how much is left as a percentage.

Ignoring the open-jar symbol

The small jar with a number and an M says how long the product is meant to last once opened. Show it.

Posting liquids in a padded envelope

One leak ruins the parcel and everything in it. Tape the cap, bag it, bag it again, box it. Packing beauty products.

The one that costs most

Not asking about the courier. Aerosols and flammables are restricted, and a refused parcel is a refund and a loss.

Questions people ask

Can I sell supplements?

Is a short-dated product sellable?

Yes, with the date stated, at short-dated prices.

Does a tester sell?
