How to boost a show, step by step

Seven promotions, what each one buys, how you pay, and the three numbers that say whether it worked.

Paid promotion is the fastest way to waste money on Metzee and the fastest way to find your first hundred buyers. Which one it is depends almost entirely on whether the thing you are promoting is ready.

Do not boost a show with eight items and no thumbnail. You are paying to show more people something that is not worth watching. Fix the show first; the boost is a multiplier, and a multiplier on a weak number is a weak number.

Where it lives

Seller → Promote → Boost. Get seen by more buyers.

Two steps: Choose what to promote, then Choose a promotion.

The seven, and what each actually buys

For a show

  • Live Boost — Your live show first in Home “Live now”, Explore and its category, labelled Promoted. Packs of 30 minutes, 1 hour or 3 hours. Go live to use this — it runs while your show is live.
  • Upcoming show boost — Your scheduled show first in “Coming up” until it starts, and a reminder to buyers who like your categories. One pack: Until the show starts.
  • Promote my show — Budget per hour while you are live, with At least {price} an hour. You pay per thousand people it is shown to, and get back what is not spent.

For an item

  • Listing boost — A buy-now item first in search and its category, labelled Promoted. 1, 3 or 7 days.
  • Pay-on-sale promotion — Your item shown in search and its category for free. You pay a % of the sale only when a buyer who opened the promotion buys it. Nothing up front; Your rate: {rate}% of the sale, and A higher rate means your item is shown more often.

For the store

  • Audience alert — A notification about your show or item to buyers who like your categories but don’t follow you yet. Priced Per 1,000 buyers, and it tells you Reaches about {n} buyers who like your categories.
  • Home banner — A big banner at the top of Home. The Metzee team checks it before it goes up. 1, 3 or 7 days, with a Banner image — Wide picture, about 16:7. It’s cropped to fit.

Prices are set by Metzee and shown on the screen next to each pack. They are not written here on purpose: a figure in a blog post goes stale the first time a price changes, and nothing would catch it.

Where to start

Pay-on-sale promotion, if you have a buy-now item. You pay nothing unless it sells, and the only cost of being wrong is a percentage of a sale you would not otherwise have had. There is no better first experiment.

Then Upcoming show boost on a show you are genuinely ready for, because it also sends a reminder to people who like your categories — which is the part that fills a room.

There is often a Free starter boost for a new store: 30-minute Live Boosts for new stores. Go live and try one. Use it on your second or third show, not your first.

Paying

Three ways, and the screen shows whichever you have:

  • Pay {price} from balance ({balance} available) — out of your Metzee earnings
  • Pay {price} by UPI / card
  • Pay {price} with boost credits ({balance})

Boost credits are bought in packs, with bonus credits on bigger ones: Pay {price}, get {credits} in credits. They are worth it only if you promote regularly. If you are not sure yet, pay per promotion and decide later. What Metzee credits are.

Paying from balance is the one to notice: a boost paid from balance comes off the money from your sales, and it shows on your statement under what came off. That is not a hidden charge, but it does mean a good week can fund a promotion and then look like a worse week. What came off your balance.

A banner is Charged now; refunded to {where} if not approved — the team checks it, and Paid — the Metzee team will check your banner. If it is not approved, It won’t go up, and {amount} goes back to {where}.

Reading whether it worked

My promotions, split into Running, Finished and History. Each one carries:

Views · Clicks · Click rate · New followers · Orders · Sales from promotions

And Spent this month, which is the number to look at before buying another one.

Which of those matters

Not views. Views say the promotion ran. They say nothing about whether it worked.

Click rate tells you whether your thumbnail and title are doing their job. A low click rate is not a boost problem — it is a thumbnail problem, and more money will not fix it.

New followers is the one that compounds. A follower comes back to the next show for free, which is the only way paid promotion stops being a treadmill.

Sales from promotions against what you spent is the actual answer. The screen also shows it as Back for every ₹1.

So: a boost with high views, low clicks and no followers means fix the thumbnail. High clicks and no sales means fix the price or the item. Clicks, sales and followers means do it again.

Stopping early

Stop, confirmed at Stop this promotion?, and you get Stopped · {amount} back in {where} — the unspent part comes back.

Questions people ask

How much should I spend first?

The smallest pack there is, or Pay-on-sale promotion, which costs nothing up front. Learn what your click rate is before spending more.

Will a boost make people bid?

It makes more people see the show. Whether they bid is decided by the items, the price and you on camera. What to say on camera.

Can I boost while already live?

Yes — that is exactly what Live Boost is for, and it runs for the length of the pack.

Do boosts ever get switched off?

Metzee can withdraw any single promotion from sale. Anything already running finishes, keeps being reported on, and any refund or unspent budget still comes back.

Is it better than a raid?

A raid is free and sends real viewers. Do that first. How to end a show.

More: what a boost is, how to schedule a show, what it costs to sell.
