A listing is a form, and the only part that needs thinking about is which kind you are making.
Where to start
On the listings screen, Add listing — or Add product, depending on where you are. If you have none yet, the screen says Create a listing to start selling and offers the same thing.
The choice that comes first
Create auction listing or Create normal listing.
- Auction — it runs with a clock and the room decides the price.
- Normal — a Buy Now item at a price you set.
This matters beyond the price: cash on delivery is a Buy Now option only. It never applies to something won in an auction or added during a live show. How to pay.
The fields that are required
The ones marked with a star are not optional:
Category *— which also decides where it is browsed fromCondition *— the honest one, in your category's own words. Condition words
Then the title, the price, and the photographs.
Photographs
Click or drag photos here. Take them before you start the form rather than during it — the shot list for your category is its own guide, and it is the difference between a listing that sells and one that gets questions. How to photograph an item.
Before you save
- Does the title carry the thing a buyer searches for? How to write a listing title
- Does the condition line name the flaw rather than hint at it? Describing condition honestly
- Is the delivery option right for this item, rather than for your store in general?
Questions people ask
Can I edit a listing after it is live?
Yes, and there are limits once bidding has started.
Can I duplicate a listing?
Yes — it is the fastest way to list a second of something similar.
What if it does not sell?
Relist it with better photographs and a lower start before you lower your opinion of the item.
