A zone answers two questions at once: where, and by what method. Get those right and prices become easy.
Where it lives
Seller settings, under Delivery zones, charges and pickup points.
Making a zone
The sheet is titled Delivery zone, and it describes itself: An area you deliver to, and how.
1. Name it. The sheet refuses to continue without one — Give the zone a name. Use something you will recognise in six months: City, Same state, Rest of India.
2. Choose the area. Four ways, and they suit different stores:
Distance— a radius from your base, inDistance in km. Best for your own delivery.- PIN codes — exact, and you can paste a long list or use
Import from file. Districts— broader than PIN codes, narrower than a state. All India— everything.
3. Choose the methods. Delivery methods in this zone — at least one, or the sheet says Choose at least one delivery method. Courier, your own delivery, pickup, or buyer arranges.
4. Say when it arrives. Delivered by — Next day, or a range From (days) to a number of days. This is what a buyer sees, so promise what you can keep.
Then Done.
Test it before you trust it
The sheet checks the area as you build it — Checking the area… — and tells you what it Covers. Put in a PIN code you actually deliver to and confirm it lands in the zone you expect.
Then prices
Zones say where. Delivery prices say how much, per zone and per method.
Questions people ask
How many zones do I need?
Most stores need two or three: local, state or region, and the rest of India.
What if a buyer is in no zone?
They cannot choose that method. Fail-closed is the right behaviour — an order you cannot fulfil is worse than a sale you did not make.
Can I import PIN codes?
Yes, Import from file. If it finds none it says so rather than silently accepting an empty list.
