During a show you are not creating listings. They already exist; you are putting them up, one at a time, from the queue.
The queue
The control room shows Lineup, split into Up next and Queued. Empty, it reads Nothing queued — add items from below.
Build this before you go live. Prepare lineup on the scheduled show does it the day before, and Edit lineup reorders mid-show.
If you have no listings yet, Create listings → takes you there — but doing that while live is thirty seconds of dead air you cannot get back. See how to create a listing.
Putting one up
Start next item takes the top of the queue and opens it. Add the next item queues one more while the current one runs.
The item being sold shows as The current item, marked Item is live. Runs for is how long it has; Ends in counts down.
Remove from queue pulls one out before it starts. Once it is running, let it run.
What to do while it runs
Hold the item up. Say what it is, what is good about it, and what is wrong with it — the third one is what sells the next item too, because a room that has heard you name a flaw believes you about the rest.
Say the price out loud as it moves. People watching on mute are reading the number; people watching properly are listening to you.
The clock, and the ten-second rule
On a standard auction, a bid in the final ten seconds puts the clock back to ten seconds. So the end is never a race against a frozen countdown — it is decided when bidding actually stops.
This changes what you say. Counting down from ten is wrong, because the ten can reset. Describing the item until bidding stops is right. The last ten seconds.
Added 30 seconds appears when the clock has been extended. It is normal; it means the room is still bidding.
Closing it
The item closes itself when the clock runs out with no new bid. It shows as Sold.
Then Start next item. The gap between one item closing and the next opening is where a room empties, so make it short — the next item should be in your hand before the current one closes.
Selling outside the auction
Share an item in chat puts a buy-now listing into the chat. Useful for the thing three people have asked about that is not in the lineup, and for keeping the chat busy between items.
Questions people ask
What if nobody bids?
It closes unsold. Put it back in the queue later in the show at a lower start, or keep it for the next one. Running the same item three times in one show teaches the room to wait.
Can I change the start price mid-show?
Not on an item that is already running. Remove it from the queue before it starts, change it, and queue it again.
What if I set the wrong item running?
Let it finish. Pulling a live item with people bidding on it is worse than selling one item cheaply.
Should I set a reserve?
On something you genuinely cannot let go cheaply, yes. On everything, no — a room that keeps losing to a reserve stops bidding. What a reserve price is.
How many items in an hour?
Twenty-five to forty, if they are moving. Fewer than fifteen and the room gets bored; more than fifty and you are rushing items nobody saw properly.
