A phone number. A delivery address when you win something. A payment at checkout.
That is the list.
What each is for
The mobile number is your account. A bid is a promise to buy, and a promise from an unverifiable account is worth nothing to a seller. It is verified with a code once. Why does Metzee ask for my phone number?
The address goes to the store you bought from, so they can post the parcel. Only that store, only after you buy. Who can see my delivery address?
The payment goes through the payment provider. The card does not reach the seller.
What is never asked for
This is the useful half of the page, because it makes an impostor obvious:
- Your bank password or UPI PIN. Never, by anyone, for any reason.
- A one-time code read out to a person. A code is for you to type, never to tell somebody.
- Your PAN or Aadhaar, as a buyer. Sellers need a tax identity; buyers do not.
- A "release fee", a "customs fee" or a deposit to free an order.
- Payment outside Metzee — a transfer, a UPI handle, a wallet.
If any of those is asked for, it is not Metzee and it is not a real seller. Fake Metzee websites and messages
What is optional
A name, which is yours to choose and is what other bidders see. Can I bid without my name showing?
A PIN code before you buy, if you want to see only stores that can reach you. You can give it without an account at all.
Nothing else. There is no profile to fill in and no questionnaire.
Watching needs none of it
You can watch any show signed out — no number, no name, nothing kept. Can I watch without an account?
What happens to it
Not sold. Shared with the store you bought from, so they can deliver, and with the named services that run Metzee. Does Metzee sell my data?
You can ask for a copy, correct it in Settings, or delete the account yourself. Can I get a copy of my data?
More: why phone verification, who can see my delivery address, is Metzee safe to buy from.
