Most of what people ask about is allowed. These are the things that are not, and why — because a list without reasons is a list people argue with.
Never
Counterfeits and replicas sold as genuine. The whole market rests on the description being true.
Live animals.
Alcohol, tobacco, and anything controlled. Regulation, not preference.
Weapons, and realistic replicas of them.
Medicines and anything requiring a licence you do not hold.
Wildlife products — ivory, protected shells, certain feathers. There is no grey area here and no documentation that makes it fine.
Anything stolen, and anything you cannot prove is yours to sell.
The accidental suspensions
These catch honest sellers:
Replicas described honestly but still branded. Saying "replica" does not make it legal to sell somebody else's trademark.
Recalled goods, especially anything for children.
Food without the licence you need to sell it. The rules apply here the same as anywhere.
Antiquities. Genuinely old objects are regulated in India, and a family heirloom can fall under it. Check before listing.
Using the manufacturer's photographs. Not yours to use, and it hides your item's actual condition.
If you are not sure
Ask before listing. A question costs nothing; a suspension costs your store.
Questions people ask
Can I sell second-hand goods?
Yes, and it is a large part of what sells here. Describe the wear.
Can I sell food?
Where you hold the licences that apply to you, and bearing in mind most of it cannot be posted.
Can I sell a replica if I say so?
Not if it carries somebody else's branding.
What happens if I list something banned?
It comes down. Repeatedly, and the store goes.
