Yes. Second-hand, pre-owned, vintage, used, inherited, cleared from an estate — all of it sells here, and for several categories it is most of what sells.
Metzee is not a makers-only marketplace. Resellers, wholesalers, collectors clearing duplicates, families clearing a house, shops moving old stock — all of them are sellers here.
The obligation that comes with it
Describe the wear, including the part you would rather not mention.
That is not a moral point, it is the mechanics of the place. A faulty, damaged, wrong or misdescribed item is returnable for 7 days, whatever your returns policy says. So an undisclosed flaw does not get you a sale — it gets you a sale, then a return, then a worse rating, and it moves a measured standard against your store.
A named flaw gets you a buyer who trusts the rest of the description.
How to describe condition properly
Pick the right word from the five: New, Like New, Used, Vintage, For Parts. Each has a definition the app states, and a dispute reads them as promises.
Two that get misused:
NewmeansUnused, in original packaging. An unworn item without its box isLike New.VintagemeansAge adds value or character. It is not a nicer word for worn out.
Then name every flaw with a measurement. "A 2cm scuff on the lower back corner" cannot come back as "not as described". "Minor wear" can. How to write a condition description.
Photograph the flaw
Close, lit, in focus, as one of your six photos. It feels like it costs you the sale and it does the opposite — a buyer who can see the mark buys with confidence; one who finds it on arrival opens a dispute. How to photograph an item.
Say what you cannot know
For anything inherited or bought at a clearance: "I have not tested the motor." "Bought from an estate sale; I cannot confirm the year."
That sentence protects you completely and costs you nothing with a serious buyer. Inventing certainty is what loses a dispute.
What still applies
Second-hand does not exempt anything. The restricted-items rules are the same, licensing is the same where it applies, and a second-hand food item is still a food item. What you can and cannot sell.
Why it works well here
A live auction is unusually good at second-hand, because the format solves the hard part: nobody knows what a used thing is worth, and an auction finds out by asking the room. A fixed price on a one-off used item is a guess; a bid is information.
