Delivering sneakers: courier, local or collection

Light, boxed and robust — the easiest category on the site to post, with one exception.

Sneakers are close to the ideal courier item: a known size, a known weight, and nothing that breaks.

The four options

Courier — the default here, and right for almost every pair. Your own delivery — worth offering locally; same-afternoon delivery sells well in a city. Pickup — fine, and rarely necessary for a single pair. Buyer arranges — for buyers who want their own rider.

What decides it

Weight and box size are predictable, so a weight-based rate works well and you will rarely be surprised. The exception is a deadstock pair in its original box, which needs an outer carton — that adds size, and size is what most couriers price on alongside weight. Packing sneakers.

Work the rate out with the outer box included rather than with the shoe box alone. An underquoted delivery comes off your own balance, not the buyer's. How delivery is charged.

Combining wins

This is where sneakers shine. Two or three pairs from one show go in one carton comfortably, and combining is on by default with whatever you set for each later win. Say in the show that wins combine — it changes how people bid on the second pair.

When collection is the honest answer

Rarely for sneakers. The one case is a very high-value pair where you would rather hand it over than trust a van — and then the pickup terms are agreed before bidding, with a collect-by window. How pickup works.

Questions people ask

Should I offer free delivery?

Only if it is built into your price. Free is a rate rule, not a gift.

What dispatch window should I set?

Whatever you can actually keep. A 48-hour window you meet beats a 24-hour one you miss.

Does a lot of pairs change the rate?

Yes — weigh the packed carton rather than guessing from one pair.
