How do I sell several things as one lot?

A lot is just one listing with several objects in it. Not to be confused with Bundle deals, which is something else.

There is no separate "lot" feature, and you do not need one. A lot is one listing whose item happens to be several objects, described that way.

So you create a normal listing, photograph the group, and say exactly what is in it.

When a lot makes sense

  • Things worth more together — a set of six glasses, a complete run of comics, a pair of lamps.
  • Things not worth listing alone. Forty buttons, a box of mixed thread, oddments from a clearance. Individually they are not worth the ten minutes each.
  • Clearing the tail of a collection, where the good pieces have gone and the rest should go together.

When it does not

  • When one item in it is clearly the valuable one. Buyers bid for that and the rest is friction. Sell it alone.
  • When the contents vary in condition so much that you cannot describe them honestly in one description.
  • When it is heavy. A lot of twenty things is a big box, and a courier bills the greater of weight and size. Why is a light thing costing so much to post?

How to describe one so nobody is surprised

The whole risk in a lot is the buyer expecting something you did not promise. So:

Say how many. "Twelve pieces" — and then photograph twelve, laid out, countable.

Say what the condition range is. "Eight in good condition, four with chips" is a far better listing than "mixed condition". A buyer can price the first; the second is a guess.

Name the worst item. If one piece is broken, say so. An undisclosed flaw in a lot is still a flaw not as described, and it comes back for 7 days whatever your returns policy says.

Say what is not included. No box, no papers, no spares — whatever a buyer might assume.

Use the photographs for counting. Everything that is included, laid out together, is the single most useful shot for a lot. How many photos should a listing have?

Bundle deals are a different thing

Worth separating, because the word collides. Bundle deals are a cart promotion, not a way to list a lot. Three shapes:

  • Any few for one price — a set number of items from your store for a fixed total
  • Percent off a few — a discount once a buyer has several in the cart
  • Free delivery over an amount

Those reward a bigger cart across your listings. They do not combine items into one listing. How to run an offer

In a live show

Lots work well live, because you can hold the pile up and count it on camera. That is something a listing photograph cannot do, and it is why clearance lots often sell better in a show than at a fixed price.
