Go through these before you go live. Each one has cost somebody a first show.
The ones that stop a sale
1. Your tax identity. A GSTIN or an ECO enrolment number. Without it you can build everything and sell nothing — this is the one people leave until last and should do first. Do I need to charge GST on what I sell?
2. Your bank account and PAN. Required to receive payouts. Setting up payouts
The ones that cost you money quietly
3. Delivery rates, from a measured parcel. Pack one real item, weigh it, measure it, get a quote. Guessing is the commonest quiet leak. How do I work out what to charge for postage?
4. Your zones. Near, your state, the rest of India. Two or three to start. How to set delivery zones
5. Weights and dimensions on every item. A courier charges for the greater of weight and size, and an unentered weight becomes a correction on your balance later. What is chargeable weight?
The ones that cost you a review
6. Your dispatch time, set to a bad week rather than your best one. How to set your dispatch deadline
7. Your closed days, so deadlines are built around when you actually post.
8. Your returns policy and conditions, in plain words. The most-read thing on your store page. How to set your return policy
The one that decides the evening
9. A rehearsal. Not a setting — a run-through. Camera, light, sound, your connection, the lineup. A rehearsal writes nothing real and exists exactly for this. Can I practise before going live for real?
Then, on the day
Charge the phone and plug it in. Low battery throttles the radio and the stream suffers first.
Stay in one place. Walking around while broadcasting is the commonest cause of a mid-show drop. What happens if my connection drops mid-show?
Have the lineup ready, items within reach, in the order you will show them.
Watch the chat in your first minute for "no sound". It is feedback you cannot get any other way. I can see the show but cannot hear it
What you do not need
A logo designer, branded packaging, a boost, or a full catalogue. Twelve items shown properly beats forty rushed. How many items should a show have?
More: how to open a store, your store page, nobody came to my first show.
