How to change your payout account, step by step

What is re-checked, and how not to have a payout fail while you do it.

Changing where your money lands is quick. Doing it at the wrong moment is what causes trouble.

Where it lives

Seller settings → Payouts & bank account, described as Bank details and withdrawals.

Changing it

Change bank account, or Add bank account if there is none yet.

  • Account holder name — as the bank has it, not as you write it
  • Account number, then Confirm account number — the second field exists because a mistyped account number is the single most expensive typo available to you
  • The IFSC for the branch

You will see Bank account saved when it has taken.

The timing that matters

Do not change it while a payout is in flight. A payout already on its way to the old account will go there. One that has not started will use the new details.

If you are unsure, look at Available to withdraw first and change the account when nothing is pending.

Automatic payouts

The same screen carries Automatic payouts on / Automatic payouts off. If automatic payouts are on, a change takes effect from the next one — which may be sooner than you expect.

If a payout fails

A failed payout is almost always a details mismatch: the name on the account not matching, or a wrong IFSC. Fix the details and it is retried rather than lost. Payout failed.

Questions people ask

Does the account have to be in my name?

The name on the account has to match what your store is verified as. A mismatch is the usual cause of a failure.

How long until the new account is used?

From the next payout rather than retrospectively.

Can I have two accounts?

One is used for payouts. Change it when you need to, rather than keeping both.
