How to change your language, step by step

Where the setting is, the twelve languages, and the one part of Metzee that stays in English.

Metzee is in twelve languages, and you can change yours at any point without losing anything.

Where it is

Profile → Preferences → Language & display, described as The language the app is shown in.

The picker itself is headed Choose your language, and its own hint tells you where to find it again: You can change this anytime in Settings → Preferences.

You were also offered it when you first signed up, which is why some people never see it again and assume it is fixed.

The twelve

English, Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Gujarati, Urdu, Kannada, Odia, Malayalam and Punjabi.

Not a machine-translated layer over an English app — the interface text is translated, including the parts that matter when something has gone wrong.

What changes

The app's own text: buttons, labels, order statuses, error messages, and App language and formatting, which covers how dates and numbers are shown.

Switching may show Downloading… for a moment while the language loads. That is a one-off.

What does not change

What sellers write. A listing title, a description, a store name and a chat message are in whatever language the seller typed them. Translating a seller's own words would mean changing what they said about the thing they are selling, which is not a good idea on a marketplace where the description is a promise.

So a Tamil interface with a Hindi listing in it is normal and expected.

The honest caveat for Urdu

Urdu reads right to left, and the app is built with layout properties that follow the text direction. Where something looks misaligned, that is a bug worth reporting rather than something you have done wrong — the report takes a second and it is the only way those get found. How to report a seller or listing.

Choosing a show's language

Separate from your app language and worth knowing: sellers set a Primary Language for each show, and you can filter by it. Setting your app to Tamil does not filter shows to Tamil — that is a choice you make when browsing.

Questions people ask

Will I lose anything by switching?

No. Your orders, bids, saved items and account are untouched.

Can I switch back?

Any time, from the same place.

Why is part of it still in English?

Seller-written text, as above. Beyond that, the Console — the internal admin tooling — is English only, but that is not a screen buyers or sellers see.

Does the language affect prices or delivery?

No. Everything is in rupees and India-wide regardless.

Is there an app I should install for better support?

There is no Android app to install yet; Metzee runs in your phone’s browser. Do I need the app?
