Cookies and what we track

The cookies are the sign-in session. There is no analytics script and no advertising pixel.

The cookies Metzee sets are the ones that keep you signed in. That is almost the whole page.

What they are for

Staying signed in. A session cookie from the sign-in system, so you do not have to verify your number on every page.

Signing in with Google, if you use it — that provider's own sign-in handling.

That is what is set. If you are signed out and browsing, there is very little to set at all.

What is not here

No analytics script. No third-party measurement running on the pages you read.

No advertising pixel. Nothing reporting your visit to an ad network, because Metzee does not sell advertising to outside companies. Boosts are a store buying a labelled slot on Metzee's own Home, not an ad network. Do sellers pay to appear higher?

No cross-site tracking.

This is less a policy position than a consequence of the business: Metzee earns a commission when something sells, so there is no reason to be in the data business. How we make money

What is recorded, which is a different thing

Not cookies, but worth stating in the same breath: your orders, bids, messages and the ordinary technical information any site has. That is what running a marketplace requires, and it is covered by the privacy policy. Our privacy policy, in plain words

Sellers see counts, not people. A store sees how many viewers a show had and how many people saved an item — not who. What the seller can see about you in a show

What happens if you block cookies

Sign-in stops working, because that is what the cookie is doing. Browsing and watching a show will largely work; bidding, chatting and buying will not, since all three need an account.

So there is no "reject all and carry on" version for a signed-in user — not because anything is being hidden, but because the cookie is the sign-in.

Local storage on your device

The app keeps some things on your own device — a PIN code you entered, preferences — which never leave it unless you are signed in. Clearing your browser data clears them. The app is taking too much storage

If you want it all gone

Delete your account and clear your browser data for the site. Personal details are removed; the tax record of past orders stays without you. Can I get a copy of my data?

More: our privacy policy in plain words, does Metzee sell my data, what information does Metzee need.
