Your own delivery is a method you can offer per item: you or somebody on your team takes it, often the same afternoon.
No courier, no packing for transit, no tracking to chase.
What it is good for
Anything a courier would refuse or ruin — food, flowers, plants, anything perishable or very fragile. Why some items can only be collected
Heavy things within a sensible radius.
Same-day selling. A show at 8pm and delivery the next morning is something no courier can offer, and it is a real advantage for local stock.
Building regulars. A buyer who met you is a buyer who comes back.
What to set
A radius or a zone you will genuinely cover. Not optimistic — the one you will still want to drive on a wet Tuesday. How to set delivery zones
A price that covers your time and fuel, or free within a small area as a deliberate choice. Should I offer free delivery?
It per item. Delivery is a listing setting, so local delivery on the heavy things and a courier for the rest is a normal arrangement. Giving each item its own delivery rules
The practical cautions
Your time is the cost, and it is easy to under-price. Three deliveries across a city is an afternoon.
Agree a window rather than turning up. A delivery nobody was home for is worse than a courier.
You are the carrier. If it breaks on the way, it broke on your watch — there is no claim to make and no one else to carry it. Pack it properly even for a short journey.
Safety and sense
It is a delivery, not a visit. Doorstep, hand over, go. Collecting safely from someone you have not met
Nothing is paid at the door on an ordinary order — the order was paid at checkout.
Do not take extra orders in person off the platform. It removes the protections and it is against the rules.
Pickup is the other half of this
If driving does not suit, offer collection from a point instead — same local stock, none of the travel, and a collection deadline that protects you. How to offer pickup
Many local stores offer both and let the buyer choose.
When your area outgrows you
That is a good problem, and the answer is usually a courier for the outer ring and your own delivery kept for the close one — rather than giving either up. Choosing a courier
