Nothing has gone wrong with your money — the hand-off from Metzee to your UPI app did not happen. No payment was attempted, so there is nothing to recover.
Why it happens
Metzee sends you to your UPI app and waits. That jump depends on your phone, your browser and which apps are installed, and it is the single most fragile step in paying on a phone.
The commonest causes:
- You are in an in-app browser — the page was opened from WhatsApp or Instagram. These block app hand-offs more often than they allow them.
- No UPI app is set as the default for payment links.
- The app is installed but not signed in.
The two reliable ways round it
1. Use a UPI ID instead of the app jump. Enter your UPI ID (the name@bank one) and approve the request inside your UPI app when it arrives. This does not depend on the hand-off working at all.
2. Pay by card or net banking. Other ways to pay opens the rest of the methods. A card does everything in the browser with no app involved.
Either one takes under a minute, which matters because a win's payment window does not pause while you fight with a hand-off.
The thing to fix properly
Get out of the in-app browser. If you reached Metzee from a link in WhatsApp or Instagram, open it in Chrome or Safari instead — there is usually an "open in browser" option in the corner. Everything about paying works better there, and this is the single change that fixes the most problems.
What you should see when it does work
Starting payment…, then Complete in Razorpay…, and while it waits for you to come back, Finish in the payment window…. Then Payment successful! and the order shows Paid.

Pay by whatever works, not by what you prefer. A missed window costs you the item and a strike; paying by card instead of UPI costs you nothing. I missed the time to pay
