Every deduction is itemised under What came off your balance. If a figure there is a surprise, it is almost certainly one of six things.
1. A boost you paid from your balance
The one that surprises people most. A promotion paid from balance comes out of your sales money, not from a card — so a good week that funded a boost looks like a worse week.
It appears as Boosts and events you paid for out of your balance. Nothing is hidden; it is just easy to forget you chose balance over UPI at the time. How to boost a show.
2. Delivery the buyer paid
If Metzee booked the courier, the delivery the buyer paid passes through rather than being yours. It shows as a deduction because it arrived in your total and then left.
That is not a charge on you. It is money that was never yours.
3. A discount you gave
Discount codes and Flash deals are separate lines. A code that ran for three weeks and was used ninety times is a real cost, and this is where it shows up.
Worth looking at after every promotion rather than only when a number surprises you. How to run an offer.
4. The fee, and the tax on the fee
Fees is Metzee's commission. Separately, there is GST on that fee, and the TCS and TDS a marketplace is required to deduct and pay on your behalf under section 194-O.
Each shows the live percentage next to it. Read the percentage on the screen rather than any figure written in a blog post — these come from settings and a number written here would go stale.
The TDS line is the one people query most, and it is not Metzee keeping money: it is tax that will be deposited against your PAN, which you account for when you file. For now the TCS and TDS figures are estimates -- they start coming out of payouts once automatic payouts do.
5. A refund you gave
A refund reduces your earnings for that order. A partial refund keeps the order a sale with lower earnings; a full one removes the sale.
If you refunded after the money had already been paid out to you, it comes off your balance now — which is how a balance goes negative. How to refund a buyer.
6. A courier weight correction
If a parcel weighed more than you declared, the courier charges the difference afterwards and it lands here. Charged by the courier afterwards.
This is the expensive habit worth fixing: weigh the packed parcel on a scale and photograph it. That’s not what it weighed is how you dispute one, and it works far better with the photograph than without. How to pack an order.
How to trace one
- Open
Your earningsand the period it appeared in. - Read
What came off your balanceline by line — each is labelled. Export statementand find the row, if you need the specific order.- If it still makes no sense, raise it with the order number and the amount.
The one that is not a deduction
On hold (just delivered) and Held by returns & disputes are not deductions. That money is yours and is waiting. Why is my payout taking so long.
